Sew it, share it

I went and got myself a flickr group!

If you make something from a pattern or tutorial and want to show it off, feel free to add it to the group. I'm excited to see what you have made!

Still here... I promise!

Oh my...I've been SUCH a bad blogger. I apologize, I've been a tad busy:

Work.

Wedding planning.

Training to hula hoop the half marathon. (Yup, you read that right)

But I promise I've been sewing and crafting and making fun stuff. I'll be back with updates soon!! Really!

This is not a wedding blog

In case you haven't noticed, there has been very little discussion on this here bloggity blog about my upcoming wedding since the initial excitement. No, I'm not holding out on you (well, actually, I might be...more on that in a sec). There are actually to legitimate reasons why you haven't heard about any wedding planning:

1. I didn't want to overwhelm you with wedding planning craziness. Seriously, I think every girl that has gotten engaged since the dawn of the internet now has a wedding blog. This makes for interesting reading for those of us getting married, but I have a sneaking suspicion that it bores most everyone else to tears. I thought I'd spare you the color scheme/bridesmaid dresses/caterer discussions and just show you any awesome DIY projects that turn out cute. So I may be holding out on you, but just a little.

2. I have not done a single thing to plan our wedding

As for #2, I promise I'm working on that. Mr. McAwesome and I have figured out what we don't want, and have a list of musts. We'll start checking out venues any day now... :)

As for #1, don't worry. I will not be blabbing ad nauseum about my wedding on this blog. BUT if you are into that type of thing, I will be blabbing about my wedding ad nausum on another blog:

I've been asked to talk about planning my Nashville wedding on the local wedding guide of Elizabeth Anne Designs Weddings. Crazy, right? Anywho, I think it should be interesting to say the least. Plus there are a lot of other pretty things to look at over there if you should get tired of hearing me yap on and on
My first post is here. Wish me luck!

Wait, wait...I'm still here!

Sorry about the hiatus, folks. I was out of town and have been making some transitions with the craziness that is my work.

The weather is cooling down, and fall is just around the corner. Mmmmm, fall....

Fall means that the hard core crafting season is rapidly approaching, which gives me an excuse to do a bunch of things and then pawn them off on family and friends as gifts! I've got sooo much to show you, so I'll be back shortly with some new fun stuff that I've been working on in my little bits of spare time!

Ring Haze

Has anyone else been completely unproductive since the start of the Olympics?

I have good intentions to get things done, but keep getting sucked in.... Soo many unfinished projects, but how can you not watch the fastest people in the world? Um, hello! They are really REALLY fast!

I'll be back when I have more to show for myself other than a somewhat rudimentary knowledge of the new gymnastics scoring system.

Only 4 more days. Thank goodness this only happens once every four years! :)

No Friday Distractions--PLEASE!!!

Eeek! I've got a Huge HUGE uber important ridiculously stressful presentation to give on Monday which requires me to be an expert on everything and convince a bunch of my scientific elders that I actually know what I'm talking about and that they should be nice to me....

Anyway, that's why my postings have been so few and far between as of late. I'm putting in long hours at work and yes, I'm STILL working on the Tremendous Totes. The pattern is almost done too, I promise! :)

Hope you all have a more relaxing weekend than me. Do something crafty for me, as I'll be chained to the computer and pile o' papers while my sewing machine gets dusty!

Tick Tock, Tick Tock

Ever have those weeks (months?) when everything you do takes WAY longer than it should and then there is even MORE stuff to do that should have been done in the time you were trying to finish the last thing?

Yeah.

Never fear, I'll be back shortly...

More crafty fun

Hope you all had a good crafty weekend! Mine was not as productive as I had hoped between "working" at my (unpaid) second job and the continuous requests of the boy for help in finishing our basement storage room. But the room sure does look pretty (I've got me a handy one!) so I'll have to brag on that when it's finally finished.

In case you didn't see, Rory shared some of her crafty goodness in the comments on Friday. Love! I've got limited time to surf the net for cuteness, so it is always appreciated when it falls into my lap. I'd love to see more, so if any of you out there in blogdom have stuff to share, feel free to add it in the comments or email me at the address in my profile and I'll spread the love.

Speaking of crafty fun, did you see the new site from the Taunton peeps? CraftStylish is the reformed of BeSewStylish which was the somewhat disappointing website that followed the disappearance of the SewStylish magazine. I've continued to be disappointed by blogs that attempt to take over magazines that I actually enjoyed reading. The Blueprint blog is one such example. They promised greatness but I'm not seeing it yet; maybe the zine was just too cool?

Anyway, CraftStylish looks promising. It'll be interesting to see what happens when they have all the functionality up and running. I did enjoy the post that was on top when I stopped by: Handbag Hardware Resources.
Some I had heard of and had my own opinion about [M&J Trimming=somewhat overpriced, UMX=horrible website, great customer service and pricing] but others were new. You can't have too many options when you make as many bags as I do! :)

Keeping tabs on the goings on around here..

After yesterday's announcement (wheee!), I had a whole bunch of nice people stop by my little blog. Not that I mind! :) Good motivation to post more often, I suppose.

Anyway, as promised, I'm plugging away on getting a pattern made up for this bag. I'm also making a few finished bags as well. The main Amy Butler fabric is discontinued, so this is going to be a VERY limited edition bag!

So, to those who are craving one of these bags, I want to make sure you have access to the latest info on their progress. I'm practically a blog virgin, and for being on the cusp of the so-called blog generation, am woefully inadequate at this. But I've learned that the whole RSS/site feed thing is uber-important. Who would have guessed? I just tag my fav blogs in del.icio.us and visit daily. Apparently there is an easier way...

Subscription!

For those of you who like the easier way, I've added links for subscribing over in the side bar. I stuck with RSS, yahoo, google, and via email for now. Are there others that people use a lot?

For now, I'm hanging with my bazillion bookmarks. Maybe one day I'll join the site feed party!
